Hi Angelique,

It is the scent of mineral (magnesium) and alkaline from hydrolysis. It is absolutely and 100% normal. Additionally, you will also notice a lot of hydrogen bubbles from the hydrolisis process.

Treated water that does not have these characteristics (scent and taste of alkaline, magnesium, presence of hydrogen bubbles) means that the product is not working effectively and the body does not receive the benefit of drinking such water.

If you prefer to drink water with less alkaline and less magnesium, we recommend rinsing the Forever Alkaline Water Stick Purifier with icy water prior to use for 1-2 minutes. The product generates a fast hydrolysis, therefore rinsing it with icy water prior to the use, will slow down the hydrolysis.
