Guillain-Barre syndrome or GBS is an autoimmune disorder and is usually triggered by toxins overload and infection. In GBS, the immune system that normally responds to external infectious material (such as toxins, germs, virus, etc), affects peripheral nerves instead. When the peripheral nerves are affected, the nerves signals between the brain and the limbs are weakened causing muscle paralysis.
