Before we can explain why the schedule is recommended, it might be best to understand the syndrome in details.

Autoimmune diseases are characterized by the abnormal production of extra antibodies in the blood that are directed against various tissues of the body. In the case of Sjogren's syndrome, white blood cells (lymphocytes) mistakenly target and damage the moisture-producing glands. They can also damage other organs, including lungs, kidneys and liver.

The exact cause of Sjogren's syndrome is not known, but there is growing scientific support for genetic (inherited) factors, hormones, a viral or bacterial infection, or nervous system.

Sjogren's syndrome often accompanies other autoimmune disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. These diseases are marked by inflammation of your connective tissues, and it is common for people with Sjogren's syndrome to also have a connective tissue disorder.

The AG pads contain Agaricus Blazei Murrill (Hime-matsutake). The polysaccharide from Agaricus blazei may be an effective prophylactic, protecting humans against cancer by stimulating lymphocytes such as cytotoxic T-cells. The use of the AG pads may help to realign the T-cells to remove bad tissues instead of healthy ones.

The cause of lichen planus is also not known, however, it has been suggested that stress is the primary cause of lichen planus, where lesions may present on the mucosa or skin during times of stress in those with the disease.
