Sugar is an organic compound (C2H6O12 or known as glucose), hence it is neutral (not an alkaline or acid). The presence of glucose does not affect the speed of the hydrolysis. On the contrary, juice drinks are typically acid. Acid does not slow down the speed of hydrolysis of the Forever Alkaline Water Stick Purifier, but it lengthen the time of transformation (from acid to alkaline) because there are more pH distance. Ph of 3 takes more time to transform to alkaline than ph of 5.
