Cigarette smoke contains 43 known cancer-causing compounds (carcinogenic). These includes tar, carbon monoxide, arsenic, DDT, etc.
Smokers aren't the only ones being affected. Secondhand smoke is deadly too and children are especially vulnerable because of their developing stage. Children exposed to secondhand smoke are at an increased risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), acute respiratory infections, ear problems, and more severe asthma. In addition, secondhand smoke has been classified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a known cause of cancer in humans.
